TONGUE-TIE

Tongue-tie & Lactation Consultation (Assessment + Procedure)

Our Frenulotomy (Tongue-tie) package is available to babies from birth and up to 6 months of age and includes our full Postnatal Lactation Consultation and/or Bottle Feeding Support. Following a thorough assessment, if your baby is identified as being tongue-tied, our expert infant feeding specialist / Lactation Consultant IBCLC will be able to carry out the tongue-tie procedure (also known as a Frenulotomy). The procedure will only be carried out if indicated and once you have all the information you need to make an informed decision. This is offered within the same appointment.

Includes:

  • 1:1 feeding assessment (Observing your baby feed)
  • Feeding Education (Responsive feeding, relationship building and early brain development)
  • The importance of ongoing skin-to-skin contact
  • Recognition of early feeding communication signs (feeding Cues)

PLEASE NOTE: If your baby is found to not have a tongue-tie, we will embark on further complex feeding assessments to establish the cause of the feeding difficulties. This may involve identifying other physical abnormalities of the oral cavity, jaw and neck or other postural misalignments affecting the ability to feed effectively. If the division is not carried out at this appointment for a health reason, the appointment will be deferred.

Plan for post-procedure follow-up

  • Post-op exercises / suck training (6 weeks) to reduce risk of reformation and build up muscles and stamina for effective feeding
  • Craniosacral Therapy or Cranial Osteopathy (Bodywork) to address fascial tensions, as a result of compensatory misalignments
  • Email, SMS follow up for the first 14 days (up to 6 weeks if required)
  • If Concerned about healing – please contact me directly or Parent to book feeding follow-up online if required.
  • Comprehensive Parent Information Booklet to guide you through what to expect (Pre-op, Intra-op and Post-op)
